My Tribute is to 3 very strong women, my mother, my mother-in-law, and my daughter. Each one has faced cancer and won. Our personal experience with cancer began one month before our youngest daughter was to graduate from high school. When she should have been looking forward to graduation, she was facing tests and more tests, surgeries, and chemotherapy. She bravely conquered each one and is now healthy, cancer free, and the mother of a beautiful little girl. 2 months after our daughter was diagnosed with cancer, my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. I’ve always heard that a positive attitude was essential to recovery. She went into surgery with a positive attitude and kept it throughout her recovery and she, to is cancer free. The thrid strike came just on month after that when my mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. My mother-in-law is a very special woman whose is loved deeply by her family. Through out her surgery and recover period, she remained strong and she helped us to remain strong even on those days when we didn’t think we could make it through another day. Each one had a different cancer experience, but the same thing sustained each of them and us throughout the many months of recovery. Without our faith in God and the countless prayers of our friends and family, we could not have made it through. Whenever we felt drained, all we had to do was say a little prayer and the strength would be there. We continue to this day to thank the lord for his help and strength and especially for our good health. If ever, God forbid, that I am faced with this disease, all I will have to do is look to one of these 3 women for an example of courage and determination. They vowed not to be defeated and they won.
